
Ahmed Lawan Defeat Ali Ndume To Become The Senate President
Senator Ahmed Lawan has defeated Ali Ndume during the Inaugural session of the 9the National Assembly on Tuesday.
The elected senate president is a member of the All Progressive Congress representing Yobe North Constituency, while his counterpart is also a member of the ruling party, APC.
The election was conducted with the popular secret ballot voting system. There was 107 elected senators in attendance who casted their vote. Ali-Ndume polled 28 while Ahmed Lawan got 79 votes.

Senator Ahmed Lawan is the preferred candidate of the ruling Party to lead the 9th Assembly as opposed to Ali Ndume who fought hard to become the Senate president.
DEPUTY SENATE LEADER goes to Ovie Omo-Age another APC member at the upper chamber.
The senator from the Delta central constituency defeated Ike Ekweremadu with 68 votes.
FOR THE SPEAKERSHIP OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila was declared winner of the 9th Assembly after polling 281 to defeat his opponent who got 76 votes.
Senator Idris Wase from Plateau was nominated as the deputy speaker unopposed from a member of APC and PDP respectively.
