Algeria Champions of Africa After 29 years
Algeria became the recent champions of Africa after 28 years at the 2019 Total Afcon held in Egypt.
The Algerians defeated the Senegalese 1 – 0 with an early goal from Baghdad Bounedjah to claim their second African cup of nations title.
The Senegalese who had never won the Africa Cup of Nation were denied a penalty after VAR reverse the referee’s decision.
According to the Algeria manager, “Without the players I am nothing,” said Algeria boss Djamel Belmadi. “They are the main ones. I suppose the staff played its part in guiding the players but they applied the instructions incredibly well.” (comment culled from BBC sport)
