  1. After Nigeria gain independence, Tafawa Balewa from the Northern People Congress (NPC) became the Prime Minister.
  2. While Nnamdi Azikwe was tagged the ceremonial Governor-General and he was from the party known as N.C.N.C. – National Council of Nigeria Citizens.
  3. In 1963, the title “Governor-General” was dumped and replaced with “The President.”
  4. October 1st is the day Nigeria officially announced the independence from British rule.
  5. According to history, the name”Nigeria” originated from Flora Shaw, the wife of Lord Lugard.
